"Social skills are necessary for school success. They affect how you do on the playground, in the classroom, in the workplace" --Dr. Barbara Howard an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and an expert on behavior and development." The New York Times

ages 4-12;  $75.00 per child

This workshop prepares kids for the school year, helping them transition from summertime to the more rigorous academic schedule. Studies show that social and emotional learning increases academic performance by 11 percentile points, yet these skills have been called the “missing piece”in a nationwide survey of teachers. During our workshop, we prepare students for back2school, paving the way for a successful year socially and emotionally.

Topics include:
  • making a good first impression on classmates and teachers
  • meeting new friends/ seeing old friends
  • engaging in “small talk” and conversations
  • self-awareness and being mindful
  • organization and punctuality
  • lunchroom do’s and don’ts
  • handling sticky social situations
  • standing up for oneself and others
  • setting goals and the steps to achieve them

*we are a nut-free environment and can accommodate dietary needs (please indicate on registration form)
